As it engages with customers in different ways, Country Paint and Hardware in North Branford, Connecticut, stays active on social media, posting about new products, deals and discounts, company news, fun ways the store supports customers and the community and more. In March 2023, manager Denise Fee approached paint specialist Marcey White and asked for help with the store’s Facebook page.
“In the innovative spirit that is Country Paint and Hardware, Denise gave me the opportunity to have my own weekly snippet and do with it as I saw fit and Monday Minutes was born,” White says. “I know a lot of weird paint trivia, product knowledge and history, as well as ‘life-hack’ tips to help navigate our customers through the painting and coating processes.”
White says the motivation for adding the Monday Minutes posts was to take the stress and anxiety out of painting for customers. Past posts have covered everything from choosing high-quality paint and sundries to breaking down the different types of solvents.
“Knowledge is power, and I love helping people empower themselves by doing what I can to help them succeed, which of course in the end benefits the health of our business and community,” White says.
While the posts were received quietly at first, White says she recently has had customers in the store tell her how much they appreciated a post they saw.
“Denise and I are constantly tossing new ideas at the wall to see what sticks and what probably won’t, so I’m confident we will make it a great success once we find our recipe,” she says.
