Kevin Macnab will serve as Home Hardware’s next president and CEO.

Macnab has more than 30 years of omnichannel retail experience. He has previously served as vice president of finance, real estate and information technology for Toys R Us, and later became the president of Toys R Us Canada. Prior to his role with Toys R Us, he worked for Marks & Spencer and D’Allaird’s Stores. He is also the past chair of the Retail Council of Canada.

Christine Hand, chairman of the Home Hardware board, says Macnab’s international retailing experience will be an advantage for Home Hardware.

“His appointment marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in our company’s history,” Hand says. “Kevin brings a combination of global retail experience and a deep understanding of the Canadian market. He understands the importance of adapting to the fast-changing retail landscape and has a track record of increasing market share through omnichannel strategies and new store growth. Most importantly, he understands the unique value and potential of the Home Hardware brand.”

Macnab says he is eager to work directly with dealer-owners and explore new opportunities for the company.

“I am honored to have been selected to lead such an iconic Canadian retailer with a storied past and strong, dependable brand,” Macnab says. “I look forward to working with the dealer-owners and the entire team at Home Hardware to develop and implement strategies focused on engaging with our customers in new and innovative ways, both in-store and online. This is an exciting time for Home Hardware and I am grateful to the board for their confidence in me as we plot a course for an even brighter future for the business.”

Macnab is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and holds a bachelor’s degree in business from De Montfort University in Leicester, England.

In July, current Home Hardware president and CEO Terry Davis announced his plans to retire after nearly 50 years of service.

Home Hardware is Canada’s largest dealer-owned hardware, lumber, building material and furniture home improvement retailer. Founded in 1964 in St. Jacobs, Ontario, the company now operates approximately 1,100 stores under various banners.
