GLIDDEN Paint Names 2025 Spray Paint Color of the Year

GLIDDEN Paint by PPG announced Brick Red as its spray paint color of the year. Described as a rich and inviting red, this color compliments PPG’s color of the year, Purple Basil.

Brick Red, which is available in both interior and exterior paint, is an extension of GLIDDEN brand’s color trends story, which focuses on nature and follows the 2025 color trends palette that mirrors colors found in the sky and on the ground.

“We’re empowering consumers with the freedom to choose a bold color and giving them the tools to complete the look of their room or project,” says Ashley McCollum, PPG color expert. “Brick Red evokes a rare sense of luxury and sophistication that easily adapts to both contemporary and traditional homes.”

Cool tones have long dominated the color space, but PPG says color trends are shifting to warmer, cozier shades. Its color experts have identified a key microtrend where homeowners are less concerned about choosing colors based on resale value and instead opting for colors that bring them joy.

McCollum says Brick Red was selected as a paint for areas made to relax or entertain.

“In this new era of creativity and change, people are more comfortable leaning into the world of color,” McCollum says. “We are starting to see unmatched desire from consumers to express their personality in whatever way makes them happy and helps them to discover a deeper sense of self-identity and connection to their environment.”
