True Value Raises Funds For Kids’ Education

True Value Company has announced that fall fundraising efforts raised more than $625,000 for two nonprofit organizations that help needy children.

Money collected through the Fall Stewardship Campaign will benefit the True Value Foundation and United Way, two organizations working to improve access to quality education, with a goal of ending generational poverty.

True Value employees invested in the campaign through pledges, payroll deductions, volunteer activities and sponsored recreational events. The 2014 campaign raised 19 percent more in funds than in 2013. True Value Company employees contributed the majority of the funds, with a company match on a percentage of pledges.

“Education can have a transformative impact on children’s lives,”  John Hartmann, True Value president and CEO, says. “Unfortunately, too many children face obstacles that prevent them from maximizing their true potential. That’s why I’m proud that this year’s campaign far exceeded our expectations.”

Since the 1980s, thousands of True Value employees have participated in year-round volunteer projects and fund-raising initiatives.

“At True Value, stewardship is an extension of the value we provide our customers every day. Through the Fall Stewardship Campaign, we are able to link True Value’s philanthropic efforts to community-based organizations that are providing the support, education and opportunities for underserved kids to succeed,” Chris Taylor, director of the True Value Foundation, says.
