RONA Announces Power Tool Recycling Program

RONA, one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers, which operates over 425 stores across Canada, is launching a pilot project in collaboration with eCycle Solutions to recycle portable power tools in 10 of its corporate stores in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. RONA is the first retailer in Canada to offer this service, accepting all power tool brands.

Until August 5, 2026, customers may bring in used tools to any participating location.

This service is the latest addition to the array of take-back programs found in every RONA+ and RONA corporate store, as well as some participating RONA dealer stores across the country, for CFL bulbs, fluorescent tubes, batteries and paint.

“At RONA, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices,” says Mélanie Lussier, head of communications, public affairs and sustainable development at RONA. “That is why we are constantly working on developing initiatives and innovative programs that support our clientele in choosing more responsible options. This pilot project is not only a first in Canada, but also a milestone in our customer offering, providing them with an eco-friendly solution to discard end-of-life portable power tools.”
