R.P. Lumber Expands in Wyoming

R.P. Lumber Co., Inc. announced the acquisition of White Mountain Lumber in Green River, Wyoming, effective October 17, 2026. The acquisition brings together two family-owned businesses, strengthening R.P. Lumber’s growing presence in Wyoming and northeastern Utah.

Founded in 1990, White Mountain Lumber has served Green River and the surrounding area for more than three decades. White Mountain Lumber is owned and operated by Ken Johnson and Bill Dowd, whose family has served customers throughout the region for more than 30 years, and the location will continue to be managed by Jerry Johnson, White Mountain Lumber’s longest-tenured employee.

“White Mountain Lumber has spent more than 30 years earning the trust of its customers, and that doesn’t happen by accident,” says Robert Plummer, CEO of R.P. Lumber. “What impressed us most was how closely their approach to customer service mirrors our own. When we met Ken, Bill, Jerry and the team they’ve built, it became clear that our companies shared many of the same values.”

White Mountain Lumber selected R.P. Lumber as the buyer because of the shared culture and values between the two family-owned organizations and their confidence that customers would continue receiving the same level of service they have come to expect.

“R.P. Lumber understands this business, values our relationships, and will continue supporting our community and serving customers the way they’ve come to expect,” says Ken Johnson co-owner of White Mountain Lumber.

Current team members are expected to remain with the business following the acquisition, ensuring continuity for customers and preserving the local knowledge and relationships that have contributed to White Mountain Lumber’s success. As the business grows, R.P. Lumber anticipates expanding its outside sales presence and continuing to invest in the Green River market.

“We saw an opportunity to build on an already successful business,” says Jason Plummer, president of R.P. Lumber. “White Mountain Lumber has a tremendous reputation in Sweetwater County, and our goal is to preserve what customers already value while providing additional resources, products and services that help the business continue to grow.”
