Pantone 2015 Color of the Year

What is the newest color trend for 2015? Marsala. Picked by the Pantone Color Institute®, this reddish brown color is reminiscent of wine. In fact, the name Marsala comes from a wine produced in the city of Marsala, Italy.

“This earthy red has wine and a very warm brown underneath, which gives the feeling of groundedness, strength, and confidence,” says Leatrice Eisman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone has a committee that picks the color each year. These committee members are well-traveled color experts.

Marsala is fit for both men and women, and can be seen in makeup, clothes, furniture and walls. Eismean says, “Nurturing and fulfilling, Marsala is a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room — making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances, and linens throughout the home.”
