OSHA Urges Workplace Safety Talks

Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be the leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 421 of the 1,075 construction fatalities recorded in 2023 Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) annual National Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary, week-long event beginning on May 5. The stand-down encourages all companies where workers are exposed to fall hazards to set time aside to discuss fall protection with workers.

OSHA recommends that company managers review their policies, training materials and equipment to ensure workers have what they need.
