According to the How Retailers Can Modernize In-Store Tech with Confidence report conducted by Jumpmind, North American retailers surveyed say:
- They can’t keep up with the pace of technology change (54%)
- They struggle to quantify return on their in-store technology investments (49%)
- They feel conflicted about whether new technology will be beneficial or distracting (37%)
The study also evaluated the plans that retailers anticipate following for year-over-year growth in their operations. Here are the top technologies these retailers plan to invest in in 2026:

- 66%: Implement in-store real-time cross-channel customer and order information
- 66%: Use mobile devices to serve as point-of-sale
