Vikram Singh will serve as Lowe’s Cos. Inc.’s senior vice president and its first chief digital officer, the company states in a press release.
The chief digital officer will “accelerate Lowe’s digital evolution and drive a holistic integrated strategy to make shopping more flexible, convenient and intuitive” in Lowe’s stores and on the company’s website.
“We’re making strategic investments in digital to become even faster at anticipating customer needs and providing relevant solutions leveraging technology,” says Michael P. McDermott, chief customer officer, in the release.
The company stresses the importance of digital sales in hiring Singh.
“Digital is the fabric of a fully integrated customer experience, from project inspiration to customer relationship management to how we present products and services and create engaging content. We’re excited to have Vikram at the helm leading the next stage of our digital journey,” McDermott says.
Before becoming the chief digital officer at Lowe’s, Singh worked for Amazon. His prior experience includes product strategy development, engineering, marketing, analytics and user experience design.
Lowe’s has recently added other new people to its executive group. Last month, Lowe’s hired Richard Maltsbarger as its chief operating officer.
Today, there are more than 2,300 Lowe’s home improvement and hardware stores throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company employs approximately 290,000 people. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe’s reported $65 billion in sales in 2016.
