Home Depot plans to cut 800 jobs at its Atlanta headquarters and is mandating a return to its five-day in-person work policy. According to a corporate spokesperson, around 150 of these jobs were based at the headquarters and the rest were remote roles.
“To extend our industry-leading position, we must position the company to move faster and stay even more closely connected to our customers and frontline associates,” says CEO Ted Decker in a message to employees.
The company recently closed a design center in Maryland and a supply site in Tennessee.
Home Depot explained its decision in a statement to media outlets:
“We’re simplifying our corporate operations to better support our stores and our customers. These changes include a reduction in roles associated with our store support center and a transition to a five-day in-office schedule for our corporate staff.”
