GMS Expands in South Texas

Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS) announced its acquisition of Central Materials, a stucco, stone, EIFS and masonry distributor that operates two locations in South Texas’s Rio Grande Valley.

“We are excited to welcome Central Materials and its highly respected, customer service-oriented team of product experts to GMS,” says John Turner Jr., president and CEO of GMS. “This acquisition demonstrates the continued growth and expansion strategy of The Home Depot and SRS as we increase GMS’s offering in complementary products and bolster GMS’s presence in the South Texas market. Additionally, Central Materials and their strong vendor relationships in stucco, EIFS, and cladding products will help unlock access to an expanded product portfolio throughout South Texas.”

Central Materials and its team will continue operating under their current name and branding, while Cesar Guzman and Alejandro Barrera, Central Materials’ founding partners, will continue managing the business for the foreseeable future, operating in close collaboration with GMS’s Southwest Division leadership.

“We are very excited to see how something we started almost 15 years ago is ready for this next step,” Guzman and Barrera say. “We feel that GMS shares our values and will be able to make Central Materials grow even more.”
