Do it Best Group, Trex Strengthen Outdoor Living Partnership

Do it Best Group and Trex Company have announced a strategic relationship aimed at strengthening the outdoor living category for Do it Best members and True Value retailers nationwide.

The agreement gives retailers access to Trex products through the co-op’s national program, supported by Trex’s distribution network and Do it Best Group warehouses. Participating retailers can also take advantage of Do it Best Group’s rebate program on qualifying purchases.

“This announcement is a major win for our independent retailers,” says Russ Kathrein, vice president of lumber and building materials for Do it Best Group. “Trex is a category-defining brand with a strong reputation for innovation, quality and consumer branding.”

The companies say they will work together on product availability, merchandising, training, marketing and sales resources designed to help independent dealers grow their outdoor living business.

The announcement comes as Do it Best Group prepares for its Fall Market, Sept. 25-28 in Indianapolis, where more than 1,200 vendors are expected to exhibit. The Trex relationship will also be part of the market’s LBM education programming, including a session focused on ways dealers can use the partnership to generate demand, sell more complete projects and grow outdoor living sales.

Kathrein says the relationship combines Trex’s brand recognition and product offering with the scale of the combined Do it Best and True Value organization.

“By bringing Trex into the Do it Best Group program, we’re giving our members access to a powerful brand while also helping them maximize the value of their purchases through our industry-leading rebate program,” Kathrein says.

Kevin Brennan, vice president of North American pro channel field sales at Trex, says the relationship builds on the companies’ shared focus on independent home improvement retailers.

“Together, we have a tremendous opportunity to support independent retailers, strengthen the outdoor living category and help more homeowners create beautiful, durable outdoor spaces,” Brennan says.

The agreement comes as Trex pursues broader growth in outdoor living. The company, which marked its 30th anniversary in 2026, has outlined a strategy centered on manufacturing capacity, product innovation, strategic partnerships and digital tools as it looks to expand beyond its core composite decking business.
