Amazon to Open First Brick-And-Mortar Store

According to a USA Today article, Amazon will open its first physical location in Manhattan this holiday season. Unlike a typical retail store, Amazon will use this location as a small warehouse to ship same-day delivery products in New York, product returns and product pick-ups for online orders.

The article also explains that Amazon will likely use some of its floor space to showcase its products such as the Kindle e-reader and Fire phone. Opening a physical location will provide high foot traffic during the holiday season and give Amazon feedback on where to go with this segment of operations.
