Ace Retail Group Expands in 4 States

Ace Retail Group, which operates over 260 Ace Hardware stores throughout North America, opened four new stores in North Carolina, Nebraska, California and Kansas.

“As we continue to grow, our focus stays the same—being a helpful, reliable part of each community we serve,” says Bob Massengill, senior vice president of business development for Ace Retail Group. “The associates at our new stores in Papillion, Shawnee, San Leandro and Charlotte are eager to build and enhance relationships with customers and show them how we live the Ace Helpful Promise through outstanding service, practical advice and the leading products they need to complete projects with confidence.”

All four stores feature lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing and electrical supplies, and offer services such as key cutting, automotive key fob replacement, STIHL outdoor power equipment repair, carpet cleaning machine rental and propane tank exchange.

The 14,000-square-foot Westlake Ace Hardware in Papillion, Nebraska, opened on March 6 and features an outdoor garden center. General manager Jeffery Schendt has been with Westlake Ace Hardware since 2001, and has extensive experience working at the company’s stores in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska.

Ace Retail Group currently owns and operates nine stores in the greater Omaha metropolitan region.

Ace Hardware of San Leandro opened on March 13, with around 15,000 square feet of retail space. The store’s general manager, Jerry Hunt, has been in the industry for over 20 years and brings Ace Retail Group’s store count in California to 24.

Westlake Ace Hardware in Charlotte, North Carolina, opened on March 27 and features around 9,000 square feet of retail space. The store’s general manager, Joel Taylor II, has over 20 years of experience in the retail industry.

The new Westlake Ace Hardware in Shawnee, Kansas, opened on April 10, featuring 12,500 square feet of retail space, as well as Ace’s store-within-a-store concept, such as The Kitchen Connection at Westlake Ace.

Retail veteran Melissa Minter is the general manager of the new Shawnee store. Since joining the company in 2019, Minter has held management positions at three Ace Retail Group stores in California.

Ace Retail Group currently owns and operates 32 Westlake Ace locations in the greater Kansas City metropolitan region.
