Duck Tape Announces 25th Stuck at Prom Contest

For a quarter of a century, the Duck Brand Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest has inspired and supported teens to transform Duck Tape into stunning prom attire, awarding more than half of a million dollars in college scholarships.

Back for its 25th year, Duck Brand is inviting crafty kids to create and showcase their artistic abilities.

Starting March 27, students across the U.S. and Canada can enter their one-of-a-kind Duck Tape prom dresses and tuxedos for a chance to win a $15,000 college scholarship.

“Stuck at Prom has become a launchpad for imaginative students, giving them a platform to showcase their talents while supporting their pursuit of a dream career,” says Kerry Haugh, director of product marketing at Shurtape Technologies. “Over the years, contestants have spent more than 400,000 hours and 100,000 rolls of Duck Tape on their unique masterpieces. The scholarship-winning styles have evolved year after year, but the authenticity and craftsmanship that shines through remain the same.”

Submissions close on June 4. From there, a panel of judges will choose the top 10 finalists—five from the dress category and five from the tux category—evaluating entries based on criteria including workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories and use of Duck Tape.

Online voters will have from June 25 to July 9 to select their favorite designs, helping to award the Grand Prize Dress and Grand Prize Tux winners $15,000 each. The eight runners-up will each receive $1,000 and Duck brand prize packs.

Continuing with last year’s new judges’ choice awards, three of the remaining eight runners-up will receive an additional $1,000 in categories including:

  • Runway Worthy for the trendiest or most fashion-forward design and dazzling statement accessories
  • Most Inspiring for the dress or tux with the most impressive story shared through a video or essay
  • Trust E.’s Choice for the entry that is most favored by the judges, including the beloved face of Duck brand, Trust E. Duck.

The winners will be announced around July 16.
