The Home Depot announced the acquisition of a 1.4 million-square-foot distribution center (DC) in Savannah, Georgia. The Savannah DC will employ around 250 associates and will support hundreds of Home Depot stores, as well as hurricane relief during times of disasters.
“This purchase is a testament to the incredible partnerships we’ve built here over the past three decades,” says Heather Tenney, VP of distribution at Home Depot. “Savannah’s thriving economic environment and its vital role in our supply chain make this investment a natural progression in our commitment to the community. Our partnership with the Georgia Ports Authority is a critical part of ensuring we can deliver products to our customers quickly and efficiently.”
The purchase was approved during a public meeting on Jan. 23, 2025, and was finalized on Jan. 29, 2025.
Home Depot’s broader supply chain operation involves thousands of containers coming through the Port of Savannah each year. Many go directly to the company’s Savannah DC, which stocks disaster relief supplies and seasonal goods for much of the Southeast.
