In the year 2016, new labor laws about overtime practice are expected to take place. According to an article by the National Retail Federation, in order for retailers to voice their opinions on the topic, they must speak up in the next few weeks.
In November, proposals for the new overtime regulations will be announced. Home improvement retailers wanting to contribute their thoughts on the topic should send in their comments to the Labor Department and Congress during the month of September, as well as October.
With these proposals, overtime may become mandatory for assistant managers making as much as $50,000 if their time is spent “jumping in to work a cash register, stock shelves or help customers.”
