Two days. That’s how much time you have to get orders onto customers’ doorsteps if you want them to think your delivery is quick.
The number of customers who say three- to four-day shipping is fast dropped from 63 percent to 42 percent in the past year, according to a survey from Deloitte, a professional services firm.
Customers’ expectations for shipping are changing because Amazon Prime has gotten them used to two-day shipping, CNBC reports. Amazon also offers Prime subscribers same-day and even faster deliveries in some markets.
At the same time, brick-and-mortar retailers such as Walmart are testing new ways to give customers fast delivery options.
Traditional stores are also responding to the race for fast deliveries by fulfilling online orders from their retail locations instead of only from warehouses, CNBC says.
