Android device users who have abandoned mobile shopping carts to avoid typing in passwords or credit card information will soon have an alternative.
Google has partnered with MasterCard and Visa in an effort to make mobile payments faster and easier to complete, starting in 2017.
Through Google’s Android Pay, shoppers can buy products faster because they can confirm purchases via fingerprint on their phones rather than typing and retyping user names and passwords, according to CNBC.
Unlike standalone online payment services such as Apple Pay, Android Pay is designed to work with existing payment services, including MasterCard’s Masterpass and Visa Checkout, which store payment card and address information.
Android device users who have an account on Masterpass or Visa Checkout can connect their accounts to their Android Pay app, allowing those users to pay for products with Android Pay.
Visa Checkout and Masterpass integrations through the Android Pay app will be available in early 2017, according to Google.
