The U.S. added 199,000 jobs in November, according to a recent survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The unemployment rate also fell 3.7% during November.
The two industries that experienced the biggest gains were health care and government. Employment in retail trade declined by 38,000 in November and has shown little change over the year, according to the BLS.
Employment in furniture, home furnishings, electronics and appliance retailers trended down roughly 6,000 in November.
The employment growth is below the average monthly gain of 240,000, which has been calculated in the 12 months prior to the survey but is in line with recent months. The unemployment rate trended down 3.7% in November, with the total amount of unemployed persons at 6.3 million.
