Westlake Ace Hardware Employee Honored for Community Service

Westlake Ace Hardware recently awarded Shannon Howard, general manager of Westlake Ace’s Liberal, Kansas, location, with the company’s Helpful Hearts Award. The award honors Westlake employees who passionately lead and serve others in their communities.

Drawing from her own experience as a foster child, Howard is a dedicated advocate for children in need. She and her team partnered with the Western Kansas Children’s Advocacy Center to host a Giving Tree in December 2025, bringing joy to local foster children during the holiday season.

“Shannon’s dedication to both her team and community is truly inspiring,” says Tom Craft, Westlake Ace Hardware district manager. “She naturally fosters a spirit of teamwork and service, making a meaningful impact every day. We are thrilled to honor her with this well-deserved recognition.”

Howard played a key role in the store’s annual Salvation Army Fan Drive,  seeing a 70% increase in donations for this drive in 2024.

“Everyone calls me a cheerleader, but they’re the ones doing the hard work,” Howard says. “I just try to lead and support them the best I can.”

Howard was presented with a framed certificate and a donation to the Western Kansas Children’s Advocacy Center, her chosen community cause.
