Walmart has announced it plans to roll out a new “rapid remodel” process that will produce quicker results and less customer disruption, set to test run in several Walmart Neighborhood Markets across Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina and Louisiana in April.
Instead of disrupting stores with months of renovations, the remodeling work will be condensed by closing the main sales floor for four weeks and keeping Walmart pharmacies and fuel stations open. Store employees will work with Walmart’s remodel teams to set up new fixtures, organize new products and prepare stores to welcome customers back.
While updates will vary by store location, remodels will focus on expanding aisles and reconfiguring layouts to create more space for customers to navigate and enhance online grocery pickup and delivery areas. Customers can also expect technological upgrades throughout the store, including digital price signage, improved checkout areas designed to reduce wait times and tools that help employees quickly locate products and assist shoppers
