Veterans Honored During “Wreaths Across America Day” at Louisville Cemetery

Brownsboro Hardware & Paint honored veterans and families of veterans in Louisville, Kentucky, in a big way this holiday season. For the fourth year in a row, the operation participated in Wreaths Across America Day at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. The day is dedicated to remembering veterans by decorating cemeteries with Christmas wreaths.

Brownsboro Hardware, along with several other organizations, raised funds for decorations for the headstones. Over 11,000 Maine Balsam wreaths were placed in December, enough to decorate every veteran’s grave in the cemetery.

“We have waited for years to be able to say we are covering every veteran’s grave for the holidays,” says Dr. Scott Giltner, location coordinator, Gov. Isaac Shelby Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. “We are astounded at the phenomenal community support this year and are so gratified by the kindness of others.”

Doug Carroll, owner of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint, places wreath on a veteran’s headstone in Louisville, Kentucky for Wreaths Across America Day.

During the ceremony, each veteran’s name was read aloud to remember and honor each individual who fought for our country.

“I can’t thank our customers and friends enough for stepping up to help again this year,” says Doug Carroll, owner of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint. “Nearly 2,500 wreaths were purchased at our two stores alone, and we sponsored another 200. We had such strong support with people buying one, five, ten or even 100 wreaths. We are blessed to live in such a caring community.”
