U.S. Economy Loses 92,000 Jobs in February

The U.S. economy lost 92,000 jobs in February, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The February unemployment rate edged up to 4.4%, showing a slight increase from January.

The labor force participation rate in February was reported at 62.0% and the employment-population ratio was 59.3%, both showing little change from January. The number of unemployed people in February was 7.6%.

The healthcare sector saw the largest job loss due to strike activity. The construction sector lost 11,000 jobs in February and the unemployment rate in the sector was 6.9%.
