Despite a chill in the air, independent home improvement retailers across the country are thinking up creative ways to heat up sales and traffic. Read the following promotions to get some ideas for your store:
- Join the Local Movement. You have to play to your strengths so host events that reinforce your local ties. In many areas, chambers of commerce are working with local businesses to offer special currencies or discount cards that encourage customers to patronize locally owned businesses. Talk to your chamber and if there isn’t a program, get one started.
- Don’t Forget the Furry Family Members. One thing Americans are certainly still willing to spend money on is their pets. Host a pet adoption day at the store and partner with a local pet agency. Consider giving away a goodie bag of pet supplies and a coupon to all new doggie and kitty moms and dads. This will introduce new customers to your store and give them a reason to keep coming back.
- Support the Troops. Most anyone today is eager to help offer support and encouragement to our troops. Become a drop-off point for care packages that will be sent overseas to the troops. Gather your employees together and assemble care boxes yourselves and if collecting donations, make sure all funds and items go to charity.
