Noble Ace Hardware store owner, Robert A. Noble III, recently completed the sale of three store locations—in Rutland, Vermont and Cobleskill and Cambridge, New York—to The Aubuchon Company.
The settlement will be completed on January 23 and the stores will be renamed Aubuchon Ace Hardware.
“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to carry forward the legacy of these remarkable stores,” Noble says. “For a quarter of a century, I’ve been inspired by the dedication of our teams and the support of the communities we’ve served. I’m confident that the Aubuchon family, with their deep roots and shared values, will not only preserve this legacy but also take it to new heights.”
Following the acquisition, Aubuchon will operate 127 stores in 10 states. Nobel will continue to work with Noble Ace Hardware in Poultney, Vermont, open a new Ace store in Ogdensburg, New York, and operate Allied Electric in Cobleskill and Lyme Hardware in Lyme, New Hampshire.
“For 25 years, Rob has been a dedicated and successful steward of Vermont’s oldest continuous business—Landon’s Hardware in Rutland, established in 1802,” says William E. Aubuchon IV, president & CEO of The Aubuchon Company. “His achievements naturally inspired the addition of other historic retail traditions in Cobleskill and Cambridge, NY. It’s a true honor to continue building on this remarkable legacy.”
