Stanley Black & Decker announced Christopher Nelson has been named the company’s next president and chief executive officer effective in October.
Currently serving as the company’s chief operating officer, executive vice president and president of the tools and outdoor business, Nelson will succeed Donald Allan Jr., who has served as CEO since July 2022.
Allan will become executive chair of the board before his expected retirement in October 2026, and Andrea Ayers, current chair of the board, will become lead independent director of the company and continue to chair the executive committee.

Nelson says he is honored to become president and CEO of Stanley Black & Decker.
