Riverhead Building Supply, a family-owned lumber and building materials dealer, recently announced it will acquire certain assets of Contractor Express.
This acquisition will significantly strengthen Riverhead Building Supply’s ability to serve customers and communities throughout the South Shore of Nassau County, increasing its presence and capabilities in a market where Contractor Express has built a strong reputation.
“Riverhead has built a reputation on quality, service, and a large, accessible inventory,” says Bob Lucas, president of Contractor Express. “They understand the importance of good people taking good care of customers. These values have been central to the success of Contractor Express for the past 45 years. There is a strong alignment between our companies.”
Riverhead Building Supply operates 21 full-service lumberyards and two Lakeville Kitchen & Bath Showrooms across New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
“Contractor Express is a strong company with a loyal customer base that values its expertise, dependable service and commitment to getting it right the first time,” says John Callahan, president of Riverhead Building Supply. “We are excited to welcome Contractor Express to our team and build on the strong legacy of the Lucas family. This acquisition strengthens our ability to serve this market, supported by the talented Contractor Express employees.”
Upon completion of the transition, Bob Lucas intends to retire from his 48-year career in the lumber and building materials business.
The deal is expected to close in September, upon completion of due diligence.
