Products That Welcome Furry Friends Into the Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of many homes, a hub of activity and central spot for cooking, dining, spending time with family and even working. Kitchens can also be a retreat for our four-legged family members when pet owners add features that make it easier to care for pets in that space. Reach your pet-loving customers with these product ideas that make every kitchen pet-friendly.

According to the 2021 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study, which surveyed homeowners who had recently finished a kitchen renovation or were in the planning stages, pet feeding stations in the kitchen are on the rise. The survey found that 5 percent of homeowners wanted a pet feeding station in their updated kitchen, up 4 percent from the previous year. Adding a pet feeding station doesn’t have to include massive renovations for homeowners, however. The stand-alone Grandin Road Pet Feeder Station works double duty, providing a place to feed your pet and store their food and other items. Another simple option is the Platinum Pets Diners, an elevated feeding station with options for one, two or three bowls.

Canisters and other storage solutions keep pet treats within easy reach in the kitchen. The pet treat canisters from Fringe Studio feature fun designs to add a pop of color to the kitchen. Built-in trash cans can be repurposed to store pet food out of sight; the Knape and Vogt Built-In Waste and Recycling Bins are slide-out cans that have lids to keep food fresh.

When selling these pet items for the kitchen, consider including other pet products in your merchandising as add-ons—such as bowls, treats and food—to complete the sale.
