Products for the Millennial Homeowner

The Home Improvement Research Institute (HIRI) recently released the Generational Differences in Home Improvement Activity report, detailing data about behaviors, insights and preferences homeowners in different generations experience.

Among the data provided in the study, HIRI reports Millennials are more experienced when it comes to “intermediate” DIY projects, which includes projects like installing flooring or replacing windows.

Hardware Retailing recommends stocking these three products in your stores to cater to Millennial homeowners and their DIY needs.

Flooring

Marmoleum linoleum flooring from Forbo is sustainably made from natural materials and comes in over 150 colors and three design directions. These floor panels are easy to clean and have a durable finish that protects against soiling, staining and scratching.

Windows and Doors

Doors from the Sanctuary Sliding Door collection from GenTek are made to be weathertight while also letting a sufficient amount of light in any room. The door’s top rails measure 5 inches, with a 7-inch bottom rail and 3-inch side rails. The doors also include 1-inch insulated glass to accommodate energy efficiency in all seasons.

Tile

These Slat Wood Wall Tiles from Woodson & Bros are offered in two colors and sizes, made from sustainable materials and are designed to connect together for easy installation. These tiles can be used for backsplashes or on any wall and are created to diffuse sound and reduce unwanted noise.
