Home improvement retailers in the New Orleans area gathered this week to talk business with peers and leaders within the North American Retail Hardware Association.
NRHA president and CEO Bill Lee and James Cabirac, NRHA board member and owner of Kief Hardware, hosted the retailers at a networking luncheon Feb. 25 in Metairie, Louisiana. Cabirac’s business is in Cut Off, Louisiana.
During the event, retailers from several co-ops mingled, talked about their businesses and swapped ideas.
Lee spoke with the retailers about the many ways NRHA works to help retailers, such as by providing useful information in Hardware Retailing magazine, opportunities for management training, key research in the Cost of Doing Business Study and more. Lee also opened the floor for retailers to talk about the industry and what they face in their businesses every day.
In February, Lee started a circuit of visits to NRHA board members in the U.S. and Canada to engage with local independent home improvement retailers where they do business.
Throughout the next several months, Lee will visit other NRHA board members to host similar events.
Board members slated for upcoming visits include:
- Megan Menzer with Newton’s True Value of Cherryvale, Kansas
- Adam Busscher of Picton Home Hardware in Picton, Ontario
- Dan Harris of Palos Ace Hardware in Palos Heights, Illinois
- Jerry Meis of Lenoch & Cilek Hardware in Iowa City, Iowa
- Will Aubuchon of Aubuchon Hardware in Westminster, Massachusetts
- Greg Schlecht of Greg’s True Value in St. Francis, Wisconsin
Keep an eye out for these events and join other local retailers to network and learn more about your association, NRHA.
