Nick Talarico Becomes Do it Best Group COO

Do it Best Group announced that Nick Talarico has been named chief operating officer of Do it Best Group, marking the next step in the company’s continued integration of Do it Best and True Value. Following the acquisition of True Value in November 2024, Do it Best Group announced its intention to operate Do it Best and True Value as separate businesses. That approach allowed the company to listen, learn and support members and retailers with minimal disruption and make thoughtful decisions about how best to bring the two companies together.

“From the beginning, our approach has been deliberate and disciplined,” says Dan Starr, CEO of Do it Best Group. “We knew it was important to first understand the True Value business, support retailers through the transition and identify where integration would create the most value. We’ve made tremendous progress, and now is the right time to take the next step in operating as one company while continuing to support two powerful national brands.”

In his new role, Talarico will have the responsibility of strengthening operations, aligning the team and advancing the company’s work to serve members and retailers through both national brands. Talarico leads with discipline, integrity and a deep commitment to operational excellence, and his extensive experience across the business, steady leadership and ability to bring teams together position him to guide the momentum for Do it Best Group, Starr says.

“Nick is the right leader for this important moment,” Starr says. “He understands our business, our culture and the needs of independent home improvement retailers. I have tremendous confidence in his ability to bring our company together, strengthen our operations and help us build a stronger future for Do it Best, True Value and the members and retailers we serve.”

Talarico says the company’s focus remains on supporting independent retailers and creating long-term value through both brands.

“This is an exciting and important step forward for our company,” Talarico says. “Do it Best and True Value each have proud histories, strong vendor partnerships and deep relationships with independent retailers. As we continue bringing our team and operations together, our focus will remain on improving service, strengthening supply chain performance and helping our members and retailers grow.”

Hardware Retailing will have the opportunity in the near future to sit down with Do it Best Group leadership to provide deeper look into what’s in the horizon for the company.
