Nation’s Best Women’s Leadership Retreat Encourages ‘Leading Out Loud’

Nation’s Best hosted its third annual Women’s Leadership Retreat at Rough Creek Lodge & Resort in Glen Rose, Texas, bringing together nearly 60 women and supporting sponsors from 35 locations across 13 states for three days of growth, connection and celebration under this year’s theme, “Lead Out Loud.”

Designed to help participants embrace their strengths and amplify their impact, the retreat featured a CliftonStrengths workshop led by coach, speaker and author TyAnn Osborn of Osborn Consulting Group; an industry keynote from Stefanie Couch, founder of Grit Blueprint; and a mix of teambuilding and networking experiences, including a scavenger hunt, live dueling pianos and a creative hat bar social.

“This conference was truly empowering—one of the best I’ve experienced in a long time,” says Debbie Fuller of PLM Insurance, a returning sponsor.

Miranda Hudson, store manager at Panhandle Lumber and Supply in Bonifay, Florida, was thankful for the opportunity to come together with fellow Nation’s Best female team members to empower each other, share ideas and build a stronger future together.

Now in its third year, the retreat continues to grow in both size and impact, reflecting Nation’s Best’s commitment to advancing women in the lumber and building materials industry—a field traditionally led by men. The program offers a rare opportunity for women to step away from their day-to-day roles, reconnect with their purpose and return to their teams with renewed confidence and clarity.

“Our goal has always been to make space for women to lead with confidence, courage and authenticity,” says Amber Little, chief human resources officer at Nation’s Best and creator of the Women’s Leadership Retreat. “Lead Out Loud is about owning your strengths, using your voice and recognizing that leadership isn’t a title—it’s the way you show up. When women rise, the entire organization rises with them.”

Next, Nation’s Best will build on this year’s momentum with mentorship, networking and leadership development programs designed to empower the next generation of confident, connected women leaders.

“Supporting this initiative isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s smart business,” says Chris Miller, CEO of Nation’s Best. “The energy, innovation and leadership our women bring back from this retreat directly strengthen our stores, our teams and our culture. We’re proud to invest in their growth and to continue building an organization where everyone has the opportunity to lead and thrive.”
