Damariscotta Hardware in Damariscotta, Maine, hosted a two-week register round-up campaign to support the work of Healthy Lincoln County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of residents throughout Lincoln County, Maine.
“Investing in our community is a responsibility we take seriously,” says Rob Gardiner, president of Damariscotta Hardware. “We’re grateful for our community’s support during this campaign. Their generosity is exactly why we chose to match the register donations. Giving back isn’t just something we do during the holidays, this winter and beyond, we’ll continue supporting the people who make this community strong.”
Funds for the campaign were raised at the checkout counter and were matched dollar-for-dollar by Damariscotta Hardware, resulting in $2,500 raised. Building off this success, the store will continue its register round-up efforts in January, supporting additional local organizations focused on community needs.
The first half of January will benefit Community Housing Improvement Project (CHIP), followed by support for the Lincoln County Fire Chiefs Association later in the month. Both CHIP and the Community Energy Fund (CEF) help residents manage heating expenses during the winter months through donations of firewood, heating oil and other heating assistance. The Lincoln County Fire Chiefs Association is currently raising funds to install dry fire hydrants in the underfunded northern regions of Lincoln County, improving fire protection and public safety.
