Lowe’s Plans to Hire 50,000 Employees for Spring

Lowe’s has announced plans to hire roughly 50,000 frontline associates across its U.S. stores this spring. The company says the 50,000 new hires will fulfill both seasonal and full-time roles at its stores ahead of the busiest home improvement selling season.

In 2020, Lowe’s hired more than 90,000 associates into permanent roles.

The company is also issuing its seventh bonus payment to employees since COVID-19 began spreading in the U.S. heavily in March. Lowe’s will distribute about $80 million in discretionary bonuses for its U.S. store, distribution center and call center employees.

Lowe’s previously reported net earnings of $692 million for the third quarter 2020, with total sales of $22.3 billion.

“We are honored to be an essential business to help our customers keep their homes safe and functional during these very challenging times. We’re pleased to provide this additional bonus to support our current associates and excited to welcome these new associates so we can better serve customers across the country,” says Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO.
