The Salvation Army, popular food influencer and philanthropist Keith Lee have announced a partnership to provide relief and support to Gary, Indiana, following widespread damage caused by recent severe storms.
Many individuals in Northwest Indiana continue to face significant challenges, including power outages, property damage and loss of essential household supplies due to tornadoes that impacted the area.
The event will include the distribution of flood recovery clean-up kits, including liquid disinfectants, laundry and dish detergent, gloves, sponges, mops and other items identified as immediate community needs. Keith Lee has committed significant funds towards purchasing additional supplies to support families as they continue rebuilding their lives. Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has also matched Keith Lee’s financial donation to ensure that as many supplies as possible are provided to survivors.
Lee spearheaded the event after sharing a video on social media highlighting the storm damage in Gary and calling on others to help. Lee committed $15,000 in donations to the relief effort, and Haliburton matched his $15,000 commitment, bringing their combined contribution to $30,000. The City of Gary, The Salvation Army and Ace Hardware joined Lee and Haliburton as partners to provide additional resources and support.
Free food from local food trucks will also be served at the event with music from DJ K Caesar.
