HPM Building Supply recently enjoyed a moment in the spotlight with an appearance on the HGTV series Renovation Aloha. The show features home renovator couple Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama, who flip dilapidated houses and transform them into modern and culturally respectful homes.
The partnership for the show came together through Kolaiah “Fuzzy” Jardine, a real estate developer who is a partner with the Renovation Aloha couple. Jardine has also collaborated with HPM Homes in the past.
“When Kamohai and Tristyn wanted to partner on a new home build project on Hawaiʻi Island, Fuzzy introduced them to our Pre-Approved Home Packages, which allow for an expedited review through the County of Hawai‘i permitting process,” says Desiree Delo Santos, HPM Homes program manager at HPM Building Supply.
HPM Homes is a program designed to meet homeowners’ needs wherever they are in the homebuilding process, whether a seasoned builder or a first-timer. The program includes 30 affordable home plan options that provide professional guidance throughout the renovation process.
During their episode appearance, staff at HPM showed Kamohai and Tristyn the HPM Home process. Delo Santos says they took the time to give them various home options, price points and helped them pick the plan that met their needs.
“That’s really what HPM Homes is designed to do, and it was rewarding to be able to demonstrate that process on camera,” Delo Santos says. “We share a common mission with them in making homeownership possible for local families, and that came through naturally throughout the afternoon.”
HPM owner-employee Donny Yamasaki was the featured team member helping Kamohai and Tristyn during this process.
“Relationships are everything in a project like a home build—the communication and trust have to be there, and Donny already had that foundation,” Delo Santos says.
Delo Santos hopes the show will increase exposure for HPM Homes so more homeowners can take advantage of the program.
“We walk alongside homeowners through the entire process, having the real conversations about budget, needs and wants, so the end result is not only what they envisioned but something that’s truly sustainable for them,” she says. “What we really hope people take away is that they don’t have to figure this out alone—that’s what HPM Homes is here for.”
