Do it Best Corp. recognized its Waco, Texas, Retail Service Center (RSC) team for its ongoing commitment to safety and recording four consecutive years without any lost time due to a safety incident or injury.
The record safety streak is a result of a comprehensive awareness and training program at the Waco RSC and all other facilities in the Do it Best Corp. distribution system. Team members have added morning stretches, safety tips, and peer-to-peer observations into their work culture to proactively prevent safety incidents. The current safety streak is the longest of any of the co-op’s RSCs throughout the United States.
“Our staff culture thrives on a safety-first mentality, which ensures that each team member returns home without an accident or injury,” said Tim Miller, vice president of retail logistics.
The 525,000-square-foot Waco RSC employs 99 team members who routinely handle thousands of products, operate numerous pieces of material handling equipment and move tons of freight on a daily basis. It is one of eight Do it Best Corp. distribution centers and delivers home improvement products to member stores throughout the southwestern United States.
“Providing a safe work experience for every team member is a top priority at Do it Best Corp.,” Safety Director Steve Rose said. “A range of initiatives and efforts—including investments in training, standard operating procedures, safety tips and regular audits—all work together to enhance safety practices across all of our RSCs. We salute the Waco RSC team and its daily focus on working safely. They’ve set a bar high for all of us.”
