Do it Best Group announced that operations at the True Value office in Chicago will materially conclude on Oct. 9, marking another step in the company’s accelerated integration of True Value.
On July 1, Do it Best Group announced it would be moving True Value’s headquarters to join the Do it Best headquarters in the Electric Works innovation district and establish one company headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Since the acquisition of True Value in November 2024, Do it Best Group has remained focused on integrating operations, eliminating duplication and reducing structural costs. Bringing teams together in one location will create greater organizational alignment, improve operating efficiency and strengthen the company’s ability to deliver greater value to its member-owners faster than originally projected, says Nick Talarico, chief operating officer of Do it Best Group
“From Day 1, we have been clear that integration will make us a stronger, more efficient company,” Talarico says. “Aligning around one headquarters is an important part of reducing operational costs, eliminating duplication and creating a simpler way of working across the company. It will also allow our teams to collaborate more closely, make decisions faster and focus more of our resources on the programs, products and innovations that help independent businesses compete and grow. We recognize the personal impact this transition has on many of our Chicago-based associates, and we are deeply grateful for the professionalism, expertise and commitment they have demonstrated throughout this process.”
Following discussions with Chicago-based team members, just over 20% will continue with the company and will soon operate out of the Do it Best Group headquarters in Fort Wayne. This will support continuity across key functions while further connecting the experience and capabilities of the True Value team with the broader Do it Best Group organization.
True Value’s roots in Chicago extend back more than 75 years, reflecting a rich tradition of supporting independent hardware retailers and the communities they serve. That history remains an important part of the combined company’s identity.
