CNRG Buying 7 Washington Hardware Stores

Central Network Retail Group (CNRG), a multiformat, multibrand retailer that operates stores in 11 states, is buying McLendon Hardware.

The fourth generation of the McLendon family currently owns McLendon Hardware, which has seven stores in Washington state.

CNRG currently operates 90 hardware stores, home centers and lumberyards throughout the U.S., and expects to close the McLendon sale in April.

McLendon Hardware president Gail McLendon says the deal was inspired by a desire for continued growth for the family business.

“Expert advice, legendary customer service and unmatched product selection have been the hallmarks of McLendon’s success for more than 90 years,” Gail McLendon says. “CNRG has the financial strength to sustain and expand our business in the Puget Sound region and beyond.”

At present, McLendon employs more than 500 people. The largest McLendon store, which is located in Renton, Washington, was established in 1926.

McLendon’s name will remain the same, and Gail and Mike McLendon will continue to oversee the company with their executive and store management staff .

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to add McLendon Hardware to CNRG,” CNRG president Boyden Moore says. “McLendon is well known and respected throughout the industry for its great stores, service and team. We will continue to invest in and grow McLendon’s here and perhaps beyond.”
