Aubuchon Co. to Transition to Ace Hardware

The Aubuchon Co., a 112-store chain in the Northeast, has joined Ace Hardware and will spend three years transitioning 76 of its stores to the Ace brand. Aubuchon is a fourth-generation, family-owned company, headquartered in Westminster, Massachusetts, operating hardware stores across the Northeast in nine states.

The company was founded in 1908, when William Aubuchon purchased his first hardware store in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Today, under the direction of William E. Aubuchon IV, great-grandson of the founder, the company continues to adapt and grow with a focus on retail innovation and customer convenience.

“In order to best serve our team, customers and communities, we need to keep learning, innovating and growing,” Aubuchon says. “And after significant deliberation, we believe that joining Ace will strengthen our ability to serve and more strongly invest in our future. Ace and Aubuchon are better and stronger together than apart.”

The 36 remaining stores will continue as an Emery Jensen Distribution (EJD) customer, with EJD now serving as the primary supplier.
