Ace Hardware, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024, has relocated its corporate headquarters to the former McDonald’s Corporate Campus in Oak Brook, Illinois. Ace, with construction partner Skender, transformed the previously unoccupied space into a modern workplace to foster enhanced collaboration among its over 1,100 locally based team members to better serve store owners and shareholders, according to Ace Hardware corporate vice president of marketing Jeff Gooding.
The completed space features open workstations, 150 conference rooms, 12 cafes and pantries, a fitness center, conference center, multipurpose room, large cafeteria, dining center and a variety of collaboration spaces and amenities.
Originally built in the 1970s and designed by Dirk Lohan, grandson of famed architect Mies van der Rohe, the former McDonald’s campus consists of three Brutalist-style buildings occupying more than 80 acres in Oak Brook.
