Ace Hardware Expanding Texas Distribution Center

Ace Hardware Corp. has announced plans to double the size of its distribution center in Wilmer, Texas.

The upcoming expansion will add more than 450,000 square feet to the existing 450,00-square-foot facility, which originally opened in 2014.

Construction for the project is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019 and be completed during the second quarter of 2020, according to Ace Hardware.

“We look forward to breaking ground on the expansion of our Wilmer Retail Support Center, an important piece in Ace’s overall supply chain,” says Lori Bossmann, executive vice president and chief supply chain officer for Ace Hardware Corp. “Ace’s continued volume growth has driven our need for a larger facility to accommodate our growing business demands. This expansion will enable faster service for Ace retailers and ultimately our valued customers.”

The Wilmer distribution center serves approximately 300 Ace Hardware retail locations throughout Texas, New Mexico and parts of Oklahoma. Ace will add more than 70 new jobs to meet the business needs of the expanded facility, the co-op reports.

In recent years, Ace has been working to improve its supply chain through projects including the expansion of the company’s Ohio distribution center and reworking the company’s delivery routes to offer faster and more frequent deliveries.

Ace Hardware is a retailer-owned cooperative with a total of 4,497 U.S. stores.
