Costello’s Ace Hardware Announces Multi-State Expansion

Costello’s Ace Hardware announced the opening of a flagship location in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, and the addition of a new store currently under construction in Abington, Pennsylvania.

“We’ve always grown through a mix of acquisitions and new stores,” says Mike Costello, CEO of Costello’s Ace Hardware. “We are seeing strong opportunities to open new locations from the ground up due to market growth and the increasing availability of suitable retail sites. Our vision remains steady, to be the acquisition partner of choice for great businesses looking for a succession plan and to expand into new communities that really need a local hardware store.”

The Cedar Knolls location will be one of the largest and most advanced stores in the company’s portfolio, spanning 23,000 square feet and designed around Ace Hardware’s ELEVAT3 (E3) store model. The store will include the launch of “The Knolls Thoughtful Finds,” a curated assortment of gifts, home accents and everyday essentials, among other standard offerings. The Cedar Knolls Store is set to open mid-May 2026.

Costello’s also plans to open a 12,000-square-foot store in Abington, Pennsylvania, expected to open in late May 2026. This location will also be built around Ace’s ELEVAT3 format.

Costello’s Ace Hardware currently operates 63 locations across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The company’s goal is to reach 100 locations by 2030.
