Orgill Exec Team Sets Sights on Growth, Innovation

As part of its plans for growth and to continually help customers be successful, Orgill has added several industry leaders to its executive team in the last 18 months. In January 2025, Orgill appointed Clay Jackson as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer, Julie Albrecht joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer in August 2025 and Sharmeelee “Sharms” Bala became chief digital and information officer (CDIO) in December 2025.

While each of Orgill’s new executive team members has a different amount of time under their belt, each has already made a positive impact on the company.

“Each of them has made an impact on the roadmap we’ve been building,” says Boyden Moore, Orgill president and CEO. “They all come in with incredible experience and can offer an entirely different perspective. Success can create apathy, but I’ve got three very talented people that have come in and have helped challenge our thinking in productive ways and complement the strength of the existing team.”

For Albrecht, building relationships has been a priority since she started, and from Day 1, she has focused on connecting with people and clearly communicating the company’s financial goals and results. During monthly business review meetings, Albrecht communicates the company’s financial results and outlook but also works to connect those results with every department.

“It’s important that we’re all connecting the dots. We know what our goals are and I want everyone to understand how what they’re doing impacts Orgill’s financial results and helps us achieve our mission to ‘help our customers be successful’,” Albrecht says.

When she started just a few months ago, building relationships was also Bala’s first priority. When she came in, Bala says she wanted to listen, learn and understand and work to be a catalyst to move the company forward.

“There’s a real opportunity for us to think differently about how we position ourselves to achieve where we’re going,” Bala says. “I’ve been in retail forever, but this is all new to me. With the diversity of experience and the industries we come from, we can mix the old and the new to grow together.”

Sharms Bala

Jackson, Albrecht and Bala have each set goals for the coming year and beyond.

For Albrecht, ensuring alignment across the business about financial targets , preparing the finance team for modernization activities and delivering Orgill’s financial targets will be her major focus areas in the next few months. Albrecht is creating what she calls “centers of excellence” to help the business, which includes hiring new employees and building small teams in identified areas.

“There is a fantastic opportunity in finance to add more value to our business and customers while also working more efficiently,” she says. “I also want to “shine a light” on our financial results to help our teams understand what’s going well and what’s not going well so that we don’t just achieve our goals but we exceed them.”

Bala says she wants to continue learning the business and develop a technology road map by the end of the year.

“The tech roadmap I want to develop will address multiple areas to achieve the full transformation we want,” Bala says.

Clay Jackson

Goals that Jackson has set for the year revolve around price optimization, product development sourcing expansion and private brand expansion, along with assortment optimization.

“In 2026, we’ll be implementing a new demand planning, forecasting and replenishment system,” Jackson says. “It will have AI embedded in it. I think this is going to be really big for us.”

When it came to setting 2026 goals, the entire Orgill leadership team was involved, and Jackson says he’s leaning into organizational synchronization alignment to help achieve these shared goals.

“We have routines now to maintain collaboration through operational performance, finance and strategic initiative reviews,” Jackson says.
