Construction Sector Adds 15,000 Jobs in June

In June, nationwide total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 147,000, up from 144,000 jobs added in May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics

The construction sector saw a 15,000-job increase in June compared to May. 21 states added construction jobs last month while 26 states and the District of Columbia lost jobs in the construction sector. California added 3,800 construction jobs, reporting the largest increase.

In the overall job market, Ohio reported the highest number of jobs added, with 10,400 jobs added compared to May. A total of 108,700 jobs were lost in 23 states and the District of Columbia. Alaska had the highest increase at 0.9%, while Rhode Island saw the biggest decline at 0.5% between May and June, according to an analysis by the National Association of Home Builders’ Eye on Housing.
