Festool Celebrates 100 Years in 2025

Festool, a precision-engineered power tools manufacturer based in Lebanon, Indiana, celebrates 100 years of operation this year. Throughout 2025, the company will celebrate the products and solutions Festool has created in the past century.

“Since 1925, we have revolutionized professional trade work with tools that are built better to help professionals build better,” says Clint Chapman, chief executive officer at Festool North America. “Every new tool we design begins with a customer challenge and a commitment to innovate and build better solutions. This dedication is part of our company’s DNA, and we invite tradespeople to join us for the next 100 years of growth and product evolution.”

Festool was founded in Germany in 1925 by Albert Fezer and Gottlieb Stoll. Fezer and Stoll’s original company repaired stationary wood processing machines and later became Festool, specializing in power tools. Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, Festool introduced the first orbital sander, Festool’s guide rail and Systainer storage system.

In the 2000s, the DOMINO wood joining system, the PLANTEX LHS 225 drywall sander and technologies like KickbackStop and the Vibration Control System were created to increase occupational health and safety. 

“The fact that so many of our products and innovations have left their mark on professional trades in the past 100 years is something we are really proud of,” says Barbara Austel, chair of the Festool Supervisory Board and granddaughter of founder Gottlieb Stoll. “Primarily, we want to use the occasion of our anniversary to say thank you: thank you to our employees and to the many customers who have supported us through the years.”
