Instacart and Walgreens Partner for Home Deliveries

Pharmacy, health and beauty company Walgreens announced it will be partnering with Instacart, a North American online grocery platform, to provide an on-demand delivery option to its customers, CNN reports

Prior to the agreement, Walgreens did not have its own delivery infrastructure in place and will use the partnership with Instacart to provide delivery services to current customers and reach new customers. The delivery services will start in Illinois and expand to nearly 8,000 Walgreens stores throughout the United States.

Using the Instacart app, customers can purchase Walgreens items and have them delivered the same day, and in some instances, in as fast as an hour. The company plans to continually increase the number of products available for purchase through Instacart throughout the spring.

“Convenience is at the core of what we do and Walgreens is thrilled to be partnering with Instacart to bring customers a simple and trusted same-day delivery option for the products they need right to their door,” says Stefanie Kruse, vice president, digital commerce and omnichannel at Walgreens. “This collaboration builds upon several other recent steps in our digital transformation to deliver health expertise to customers in new channels, which is timely given shifts in customer needs during the pandemic.”

Home improvement retailers can also implement innovative services to improve customers’ shopping experiences, reach new customers and ultimately, boost sales. Several retailers adapted their businesses to better serve customers during COVID-19 by adding options like delivery and curbside pickup.
