Busy Beaver Details Expansion Plans

Pittsburgh-based home improvement retailer Busy Beaver is set to open its fourth location in Ohio on May 24. The company is also planning to open new locations in Pennsylvania this fall.

The company’s latest Ohio location is in Calcutta and will officially open May 24, with a special grand opening celebration planned for June 1.

The Calcutta location is 60,000 square feet and will include an expanded seasonal department, an indoor lumberyard, a farm and ranch department and a designated contractor service center, according to the company.

In total, the Calcutta location will employ roughly 20 full-time and 15 part-time workers.

“We’re excited to introduce our ‘We Care’ pledge of legendary customer service to more communities across the tristate region in 2019. Our knowledgeable and customer-friendly staff will deliver an outstanding store experience for residents and businesses in the Calcutta-East Liverpool, Ohio, area,” says Busy Beaver CEO Joe Kallen.

In addition to the new Ohio location, Busy Beaver is also preparing to open more stores within central Pennsylvania. This fall, the company will open stores in Chambersburg and Red Lion, Pennsylvania.

“Not only will our upcoming Calcutta, Chambersburg and Red Lion store openings add local jobs, these communities will also gain a new neighbor that genuinely cares about serving customers in an exemplary way to meet all their hardware, home improvement, and light construction supply needs,” says Kallen.

In 2018, Busy Beaver also opened new locations throughout Pennsylvania.

Busy Beaver was founded in 1962. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded and began operating full-service home improvement centers. Today, there are 23 Busy Beaver locations across Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
